Questions

How do I measure rise for trousers?

Sit on a hard chair and measure at the side from your waist string straight down to the seat. That 'body rise' sets the crotch depth.

Why is the back crotch longer than the front?

Your seat needs more room than your front, so the back crotch extension is longer and the back waist is raised slightly — standard trouser drafting.

What elastic should I use?

3 cm (1¼ in) wide non-roll elastic, cut about 8–10 cm shorter than your waist. The casing is drafted for elastic up to 3.5 cm wide.
