Questions
How much flare should an A-line skirt have?
8–15 cm per side at the hem gives the classic A-line shape at knee length; go higher for a fuller swing or lower for a near-straight skirt.
Is this good for a first skirt?
Yes. It has two darts per piece, a side or back zip and a straight waistband — a common first fitted project.
Why is the hem curved?
When the side seam flares out, the hem has to curve up slightly at the side so the skirt hangs level and the side seams meet at a right angle.
